Marie E. Larson

Our beloved Mother, Ga'ma, Grammie, Marie E. Larson, left us on March 18, 2016 at the age of 89. She joins her mother, Hazel Marie Camp and her husband of 48 years, Lamoyne (Larry) Larson in heaven.

Marie was born Feb. 8, 1927 in the first "modern" house in Cheney, built by pioneer and Civil War veteran, G.W. Cook, her great-great-grandfather. She was a proud descendant of the earliest settlers in Washington state.

Marie graduated from Cheney High School in 1945 and looked forward to their reunions, the last of which she attended was their 70th.

Lamoyne and Marie married on Aug. 3, 1947 and started their family in Spokane Valley. During those years she supported her daughter in Girl Scouts and her son in his budding passion for electronics. He became a successful avionics engineer for Boeing, a fact of which she was extremely proud.

Lamoyne and Marie later moved to their ranch in Liberty Lake. While hosting family gatherings, she shared her love of family history and country life with all who loved and knew her.

Marie regularly attended women's Bible study hosted by Liberty Lake Community Church. She was also a valued member of the Eastern Washington Genealogical Society and was regularly sought after for her expertise in Swedish family research. Marie always enjoyed a strong cup of coffee, crossword puzzles and reading "Our Daily Bread."

Marie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Burnside; her son Steven Larson; grandchildren: Shawna, Scott, Rachelle, Janie and six great-grandchildren.

The viewing will be Thursday, March 24 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Thornhill Valley Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Spokane Memorial Gardens at 10:30 a.m. on March 25, followed by the memorial service at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley at 1 p.m. with reception to follow.
