Reiter has EWU cross country program best
Junior Sarah Reiter continues to leave her mark on the Eastern Washington University women’s cross country program, as she recorded another program best finish, only this time at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky., Nov. 21. Reiter finished her season with a 46th place finish in a time of 20 minutes, 29.8 seconds on the 6,000 meter course.
The previous program best for a female athlete on a 6,000 meter course was held by Mattie Bridgmon in 2007, where Bridgmon placed 64th with a time of 21:16.2. The current best overall finish at the NCAA National Championships is held by Kari McKay, who placed 33rd in 1991 with a time of 17:28.0 on a 5,000 meter course.
Reiter now holds two program best finishes for the EWU women’s cross country team. At last year’s Big Sky Cross Country Championships, Reiter finished in first place to take home the championship title, a first ever for any cross country athlete in program history.
Reiter was the top finisher at the National Championships against teams in the Big Sky Conference. She placed ahead of each Weber State athlete at the championships. She was also the seventh finisher in the West Region at the championships.

Eastern ousted in Big Sky volleyball
The Eastern Washington University volleyball team saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion, Nov. 19, as Idaho State won the final three sets to record a five-set victory and eliminate the Eagles from the 2015 Big Sky Conference Tournament.
Despite the tough setback, EWU had one of its best seasons in recent memory this year. Eastern returned to the conference tournament after a four-year absence and started off Big Sky play with a 7-0 record, its best start since 2003.
“One of the things I told the team in the locker room was that just because we lost today, it doesn’t take away from the great things we did this year,” EWU head coach Michael King said.
Senior Ana Jakovljevic led EWU with 12 kills and added a team-high 12 digs, good for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior Allie Schumacher added 11 kills, hitting .257 (11-2-35) to go along with seven digs and five blocks.
Eastern concluded its 2015 campaign with a 14-14 overall record.
