Cheney United Church of Christ

Pastor David Krueger-Duncan will continue with the third week of his four-week series that speaks to life when living is a painful experience in our hearts and in our minds.  We will continue to find ways to stop living with relentless hurt in our daily lives. Join us for services at the Cheney United Church of Christ (UCC) on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. A coffee hour will follow in the fellowship hall. 

Men’s breakfast is scheduled at 7:45 a.m. Sun, Nov. 15, at the Marketplace Bakery and Deli. The lunch bunch meets today, (Nov. 12), and every second Thursday.  Bring a dish to share at noon in the UCC fellowship hall.

Join our social-wellness walking group, which starts at 9 a.m. each Thursday if you wish to get some fresh air, exercise, and an opportunity to meet new people. Everyone is welcome regardless of their walking pace.

 

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons on our website http://www.emmmanuelcheney.org or on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney. Christian education for grade school through adult begins at 9 a.m.

Emmanuel would like to thank the community for participating in our annual holiday bazaar and luncheon last Saturday Nov. 7.

Worship with us at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for our Ecumenical Thanksgiving worship service on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Please bring non-perishable food items for the food bank.

Wednesday, Dec. 2 will be our first mid-week Advent soup supper and worship. Soup supper is served at 6 p.m. followed by worship at 6:30. Mid-week Advent continues through Wednesday, Dec. 16.

On Sunday Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. we will have our “Hanging of the Greens” worship service. During this service we decorate the sanctuary and tree for Christmas.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Communion is Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

A special thank you to all who visited and shopped at our holiday bazaar. Attention all college students: join us each Mondays at 5 p.m. for dinner, discussion, study and devotions.

Fellowship breakfast is Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Come, bring a friend.

The choir meets each Thursday at 6 p.m. for practice. Come sing with us. Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Saturday morning at ll:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

For your contemplation: “You realize that prayer takes us beyond the law. When you are praying you are, in a certain sense, an outlaw. There is no law between the heart and God. The law is outside our intimate relationship with God and if you bring a law into the intimate relationships with God, you mess things up. Between the soul and God there are no laws. But that is not a natural situation: it is the result of redemption, the result of Christ.” Thomas Merton.

United Methodist Church

Sunday morning worship is at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alissa Bertsch -Johnson will present the fifth and final sermon in a series based on “The Five Marks of a Methodist: The Fruit of a Living Faith.” This week’s topic is “A Methodist loves others.”

Immediately following the worship service there will be a planned Thanksgiving potluck. Bring a dish to share and join in the feast and the fellowship.

Sunday school classes are at 8:30 and 9 a.m. Call the church office at 235-4600 to find out about other study group opportunities.
