Medical Lake opened the 2015 Northeast A League volleyball season with a pair of 3-0 losses to Colville and Deer Park.
The Cardinals (0-2) fell to the Indians 25-9, 25-14 and 25-11 Sept. 15 and the Stags 25-12, 25-17 and 25-8 in a pair of contests at home.
“We lost two tough games this week,” head coach Kari Knowlton said. “Deer Park and Colville are great teams and they were great opponents to start off our season.”
Claire Dormaier led the Cardinals in both kills (3) and digs(5) versus Colville. Kennedy Zima led Colville with 11 kills and six digs.
Dormaier added a double-digit night with 12 digs versus Deer Park while Katie Kepner had 10 assists.
For the visitors, Kristina Carlson tallied 17 assists while Kaitlyn Matea had 17 digs.
Knowlton also singled out Sage Marinello for her week’s work with six kills, a block, but more importantly, ”Great leadership on and off the court.”
Next up for the Cardinals are road matches at Lakeside this past Tuesday (Sept. 22) and at Newport, tonight, Sept. 24.
