Cheney book club Sept. 29

“The Round House,” a powerful novel about Native American life is the September selection of the Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Cheney Community Library.

The group meets Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at the library. All are welcome to attend.

Louise Erdrich, author of “The Round House,” tells the story of love, violence and retribution through the eyes of a 13-year-old boy. The action takes place on an Indian reservation in North Dakota. Elements of Indian folklore and tradition are woven into the narrative.

Cheney Legion bingo Sept. 26

Cheney’s American Legion Auxiliary is hosting “Harvest Bingo,” Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 – 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 72 Hall, 116 College Ave. Ten regular games pay $15, two blackout’s for $50. For more information call (509) 559-5704 or (509) 235-6181.

Feed Cheney at Sutton Park

Feed Cheney’s free monthly dinner and groceries will be at the Sutton Park Gazebo (805 Washington St.) on Monday, Sept. 28, and will feature a pulled pork dinner beginning at 5:30 pm. Groceries are provided by 2nd Harvest Food Bank and Feed Cheney.
