CHENEY

Aug. 31

A child was found on the 2400 block of First Street. The child left the house and wandered to a nearby retail store while the parents were preoccupied.

Sept. 1

Third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the 200 block of Buena Vista Street. A window was broken.

Sept. 2

A suicide attempt was reported on the 1600 block of Third Street. The individual was voluntarily committed.

Sept. 3

A vehicle reported stolen out of Spokane was recovered on the 800 block of West First Street.

Fourth-degree assault was reported at Cheney High School.

Rick L. Schattler, 49, was arrested at the Cheney Municipal Court on a court commitment for theft.

Harassment was reported on the 300 block of Alki Street.

Michael P. Brackett, 24, was arrested for second-degree theft on the 100 block of West First Street.

Victor D. Castillo, 22, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order on the 300 block of Sixth Street.

Sept. 4

Harassment was reported on the 800 block of West First Street.

First-degree theft was reported on the 800 block of Second Street. A Comcast account was opened in Florida under someone else’s name.

Third-degree theft was reported on the zero hundred block of North Sixth Street. Tires were taken.

Harassment was reported on the zero hundred block of North Seventh Street.

Sept. 5

Corey J. Maltone, 21, was arrested for third-degree malicious mischief on the 400 block of First Street. A window was broken at a business.

Third-degree theft was reported at the Ace Hardware store on the zero hundred block of Cheney-Spokane Road.

Sept. 6

Fourth-degree assault was reported on the 1000 block of First Street. No one involved wished to press charges.

Sept. 7

Courtney E. Taylor, 26, was arrested on the 900 block of First Street on a misdemeanor theft warrant out of Spokane.

Third-degree malicious mischief was reported on the zero hundred block of North Eighth Street. A real estate For Sale sign had graffiti on it.

Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 400 block of East Norma Lee Avenue.

Theft was reported on the 400 block of South Hallett Street.

A traffic accident with injuries was reported at Brooks Road and Lefevre Street.

Sept. 3

Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 100 block of South Hallett Street.

Physical abuse was reported on the 100 block of East Ladd Street.

Theft was reported on the 200 block of North Prentis Street.

Physical abuse was reported on the 100 block of South Hallett Street.

Third-degree theft was reported on the 13500 block of West Sixth Avenue.

Lost property (not specified) was reported on the 1200 block of South Hayford Road.

Austin G. Early, 19, was arrested on the 1200 block of South Hayford Road for third-degree theft.

Sept. 4

A traffic accident with damages was reported on the 13500 block of West Highway 2.

Second-degree possession of stolen property was reported on the 800 block of South Ziegler Street.

Fraud was reported on the 1400 block of South Albert Street.

Sept. 5

A fight was reported on the 1700 block of South Lawson Street.

Derek W. Schilling, 26, was arrested at Hayford Road and Highway 2 for fourth-degree assault and on a warrant for first-degree trespassing.

Domestic violence/verbal dispute was reported on the 1200 block of North Hayford Road.

Sept. 6

A traffic accident with damages was reported at West Drive and South Aspen Place.

Sept. 7

A juvenile runaway was reported on the 600 block of South Ziegler Street. The juvenile has not returned home.

Kenneth L. Benzie, 51, was arrested on the 1200 block of South Hayford Road for third-degree theft/shoplifting.

Fourth-degree assault/domestic violence was reported on the 1200 block of South Garfield Road.

Gabriel A. Campbell, 51, was arrested on the 1200 block of South Hayford Road on warrants for failure to appear on theft charges.
