The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane Valley Police Department are inviting residents to participate in their free Citizen’s Academy, which begins Oct. 8.
According to a news release, residents who attend the academy will have a chance to meet the deputies that serve and protect Spokane County. They’ll learn about the specialized training deputies receive to do their job, the different assignment units and various services they provide to the community. Students will also learn about the procedures of the department.
There will be a total of eight sessions, every Monday night from 6–9 p.m. Attendees must pass a background check and attend seven out of the eight sessions. Classes are held at the Spokane Valley Police Precinct, 12710 E. Sprague Ave.
Citizens interested in signing up for the academy can contact Deputy Chris Johnson at (509) 477-2592 or email him at [email protected].
