Barbara Ann Feyh

Barbara Ann Feyh, age 75, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Deaconess Hospital in Spokane after a 10-year battle with cancer.

Barbara was born in Canacao, Philippines, May 19, 1940 to Clarence William Feyh and Florence Marie (Brennecke) Feyh. She was an only child and never married but was surrounded by many male friends.

She transferred around with her father in the military attending school in multiple locations. Barbara attended the University of Washington in 1958, receiving her bachelor of science degree in nursing in 1962. She worked in Seattle hospitals in the operating room, Long Beach Hospital in the intensive surgical ward and was promoted to head nurse of the medical ward.

She joined the U.S. Air Force and worked as a flight nurse for 4 1/2 years in Vietnam, eventually being promoted to major. Barbara received her masters of science in health care management at Cal State Los Angeles in 1977. She was employed as an assistant director of nursing in Boise, Idaho and Reno, Nev.  

In 1983 she moved to Spokane and was employed at Spokane Regional Health District as the director of community and family services. She was active in statewide nursing and public health organizations. Barbara retired in 2006.

Barbara was actively involved in the Golden Retriever Club of America as event chairman and secretary. She had a passion for friends, traveling to historical places and river cruising, shopping, eating out at quality restaurants. Since retiring she organized the building of her dream home.

Barbara was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved mingling with the youth and members of her ward. She was a positive, unique, classy person who was kind to both people and animals. She is survived by many loving friends.
