Kelsey Cook brings 'Ladies First' show to Spokane

Cheney High School and Washington State University graduate delivers comedy at Bing Crosby Theatre this Friday

Cheney High graduate Kelsey Cook is bringing her stand-up comedy talent back to Spokane this weekend for a Friday night show at the Bing Crosby Theatre. Cook is a 2011 graduate of Washington State University with a major in broadcast production. She first found her comedic voice in Pullman, headlining a weekly comedy show and winning the title at the Last Coug Standing competition.

Living in Seattle, Cook won the Renton Comedy Competition, the Key Peninsula Comedy Competition and was selected to perform in the Seattle International Comedy Competition and Big Sky International Comedy Competition. She was also invited to perform in the She-Devil Comedy Festival in New York City. In 2013, her comedy gained worldwide attention when one of her videos was featured on the front page of Yahoo.com.

Moving to Los Angeles in January, Cook's stand up has been featured on the television show "Laughs" on FOX as well as on the Seattle-based "The 206." She was recently a finalist in the 2015 KROQ Kevin and Bean April Foolishness Contest in Los Angeles.

Friday's show at the Bing also features Spokane's Mattie Sobotka and Portland's Susan Rice. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at all TicketsWest outlets as well as at the theater on the night of the event. Some of the material may not be appropriate for all ages.

Cook is the daughter of Kathy Brainard of Cheney and Chris Cook of Spokane.
