Chaves to serve on transfer rules group
After being deeply involved in the issue earlier this year following the transfer of quarterback Vernon Adams to the University of Oregon, Eastern Washington University Athletic Director Bill Chaves will serve on a new group this spring that will study Division I transfer rules.
The group’s goal is to recommend changes, which will be considered during the 2015-16 legislative cycle. During a conference call last month, the Division I Council Coordination Committee appointed the Ad Hoc Transfer Issues Working Group to consider where improvements can be made to current rules. The group’s primary focus will be on graduate transfers and permission-to-contact rules.
“I look forward to working with this group so that we can continue to evolve all of the issues that surround transferring from a number of perspectives,” Chaves said.
