Cheney Community Church

Worship with us as we celebrate the season of Easter. Friday evening, April 3, 6:30 p.m., Cheney Community Church will host the Good Friday service for the West Plains Community Churches. The service is open to everyone.

Our Easter Sunday service is at 10 a.m. Luke 24:34, “The Lord is risen indeed!” Come celebrate with us. Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers, with children’s church available for elementary age children. Middle school and high school teens meet 3-5 p.m. on Sunday afternoons.

Our Awana Club recently participated in the regional Awana Game competition at Whitworth University. The Sparky’s and T and T groups both won second place. The Trek (middle school) team placed first, and Journey (high school) team placed fourth. We sent 32 kids and six adults from our club.

A number of Bible study groups and other activities meet during the week. Call the office for information, 235-4841.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

During Holy Week Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Communion at 11 a.m. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Holy Week services are as follows: Maundy Thursday Service and Foot Washing, 7 p.m. and Good Friday service, 7 p.m. Additionally, the campus ministries of the Cheney Episcopal, Lutheran and Catholic churches are offering an ecumenical Good Friday Service at noon in the multipurpose room in the Eastern Washington University student union (PUB).

Attention college students: Each Monday at 5 p.m. you are invited to join us for dinner, study and devotions. Narcotics Anonymous meets Tuesday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Fellowship Breakfast is each Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in the parish hall. Come and bring a friend.

For your contemplation: “Living God, eternal Holy Spirit, let your bright intoxicating energy which fired those first disciples fall on us to turn the world again,” The New Zealand Prayer Book.

United Church of Christ

All are cordially invited to the Easter week events at our church. At the 7 p.m. worship on Maundy Thursday evening, April 2, the biblical narrative of the Passion of Jesus Christ will be read.

 As the Lenten season leads to reflection and prayer, the sanctuary will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, with slide shows of the pastor’s sermons showing in a continuous loop. Also, pastor Dave will be available in his office for conversation or deeper discussions.

 On Easter Sunday the sunrise service is planned for 8 a.m. at the cemetery, though it may move to the sanctuary at 423 N. Sixth St. if rain or snow. Shortly afterward, Easter breakfast will be served about 8:30 a.m. to everyone who comes. Choir practice follows at 9:15 a.m. in preparation for the 10 a.m. service in the sanctuary.

 During this worship service communion and Jesus Christ’s rising as the Son of God will both be celebrated by pastor David Krueger-Duncan, and the choir will sing “Worthy Is the Lamb.”

United Methodist Church

Journey through the passion of Holy Week and join in the joyous celebration of Easter morning with us at Cheney United Methodist Church. Maundy Thursday Seder meal and communion is at 6 p.m., April 2. Good Friday service is April 3 at 7 p.m. at the church.

Easter morning celebration begins with Sunrise service led by pastor Alissa Bertsch-Johnson at 6:30 a.m. on the lawn of the church. A potluck brunch follows from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with an egg hunt for the children at 9. Pastor Johnson will lead a celebration worship at 10 a.m. All are welcome to celebrate the risen savior.

Sunday school classes will not meet this week and will resume on April 12.
