Kristine Ann Nixon

Kristine Ann Nixon, age 67, of Cheney, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21 at home in the care of hospice and her family.

She was born May 28, 1947 to Sidney and Dorothy Kvalheim. She married Doug Nixon on Aug. 22, 1969 and he survives.

Also surviving is her daughter Sarah Nixon and grandson Christian Ramirez of Cheney; son Michael Nixon, daughter-in-law Tiffany Nixon, along with their two children Thorin and Halle of Libby, Mont.; one sister, Trina Nyhus of Westport, Wash., and one brother Lee Kvalheim of Spokane.

Kris was a long time resident of Everett, Wash., until she moved to Cheney in 2004. She graduated from Auburn High School and worked for Verizon for many years. She enjoyed quilting with the Women of Emmanuel Lutheran Church as well as spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding her bike and walking with friends around Cheney.

Kris was a board member of Cheney Outreach as well as a volunteer at the soup kitchen. Kris had an endearment for playing cards and board games with her family; she especially liked playing Chinese checkers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cheney.
