Anti-racist educator to speak Feb. 24 at EWU

Tim Wise, one of the nation’s most prominent anti-racist essayists and educators will appear at Eastern Washington University for a lecture from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, in Showalter Auditorium.

Wise’s lecture, “Combating Racism: From Ferguson to the Voting Booth to the Border,” is free and open to the public. His presentation will be followed by a reception in the Showalter Rotunda.

According to a news release, Wise will present a unique opportunity to continue campus conversations about race relations in the U.S. Wise has spent the past 20 years speaking to audiences in all 50 states, on over 1,000 college and high school campuses, at hundreds of professional and academic conferences and to community groups across the nation.

Wise is the author of a number of books addressing race and culture including “White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son.”
