Deadlines for submitting West Plains Briefs is noon Monday. Briefs should be under 100 words if possible. Briefs may be edited for length.

‘Daddy, Daughter Dance’

The Airway Heights Parks and Recreation Department is having its “Daddy Daughter Dance: Fairy Tale Ball” Saturday Feb. 21 from 6 — 8 p.m. at the Sunset Elementary Gym. There will be dinner, crafts, games and other activities.

The cost is $15 a couple and $5 for additional daughters. Tickets can be purchased online or at the community center — there are a limited number of tickets available for the event.

‘Mom and Son fun night’

Mothers and their sons will have a chance to look for buried secrets during the Airway Heights Parks and Recreation Department’s “Mom and Son Fun Night: Treasure Adventure” Saturday Feb. 21 at the Airway Heights community center, 13120 W. 13th Ave.

The cost is $15 per couple and $5 for additional sons. Dinner will be included. Tickets can be purchased at the community center or online. Limited number of tickets are available.

“God’s Not Dead” screening

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 223 S. Hallett St., is having a screening of “God’s Not Dead” Medical Lake on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. There is plenty of parking as well wheelchair accessibility in the back of the church.

Empowerment event

The Mind, Body, Spirit Holistic Fair presents “Empowerment,” Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Unity Spiritual Center, corner of 29th Avenue and Bernard Street on Spokane’s South Hill.

There will be 40 vendors providing information and demonstrations on everything from botanicals to nutritional products and faith healing, along with jewelry, CDs and herbs. There will be nine educational presenters, including Becky Lee Osterbeck on “Take Your Life Back” and Stephen Brown on “Empowerment is about energy. The event runs from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., with food, a coffee bar and plenty of free parking.
