Nadeau qualifies for state at first meet of season

The Cheney Blackhawks boys’ swimming team began their season, Dec. 11 with a 129-53 loss against 4A Moses Lake.

Despite losing in team points, several Cheney swimmers took the top three spots at the meet. Junior Scott Nadeau qualified for state and finished second in both the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes and 6.30 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:09.81).

Sophomore Trevor Babcock took first in the 100 backstroke (1:02.57). He also placed second in the 200 freestyle.

Junior Brock Jongeward took third in the 300 freestyle and senior Justin Barker finished third in the 100 breaststroke.
