Immigration reform, what is it good for?

Letters to the Editor

I would like to ask Norm Luther why do we need immigration reform? All we really need is to enforce the laws already on the books.

This immigration bill is nothing but blanket amnesty disguised as something else. I remember when the last immigration bill was passed and we gave away citizenship, with the promise it would not happen again, but here it is again.

American citizenship is too precious to be giving it away to just anyone.

All the people illegally crossing our borders are in essence criminals. They have no regard for our laws yet you support giving all these people a pass while people who wish to immigrate to our country legally wait in line.

We do not need to reward such behavior with citizenship.

The big sticking point is getting the borders secured first.

Until the border is secured the American people should not support this bill or any other immigration “reform.” If President Obama really wanted immigration reform, why didn’t he get it done in his first four years? He had both houses of Congress and could easily have accomplished it then.

Maybe you are unaware that the U.S. Congress has not passed a budget since Obama took office including the years when he had both houses of congress.

The federal government has been operating on continuing resolutions, for the last six years.
