Cheney kids Christmas party

Cheney’s American Legion Post 72 is holding their annual Children’s Christmas Party on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Post’s location at 116 College Ave. There will be plenty of fun as well as pictures with Santa and one of his elves. Everyone is welcome.

MLHS alums holiday social

The Medical Lake High School Alumnis’ Christmas social will start at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the VFW Post 3386, 1307 S. Loffler St. in Airway Heights. A potluck dinner begins at 6 p.m. Raffle drawings at 7 p.m. and dancing to “Beauty and the Beast” at 7:30 p.m.

Maddyson Harris fundraiser

The Children Organ Transplant Association (COTA) and Papa Murphy’s store at 2418 W. Northwest Blvd. and 1530 E. Francis Ave. are having a pizza fundraiser, Dec. 17, for Airway Heights’ Maddyson Harris and her family.

Fifteen percent of all food sales go to COTA to help Harris, who requires a kidney transplant. She and her father will go to Seattle for the operation and stay there for a minimum of four months for daily blood work to ensure her body is not rejecting the new kidney and to learn how to manage medication dosages.

Gifts for Cheney kids finale

The final day to donate to Christmas Gifts for Cheney Kids is Thursday, Dec. 18. Gifts may be dropped off at collection boxes at businesses and churches throughout Cheney. Donations can be made by sending a check marked “Christmas Gifts for Cheney Kids” to Cheney Outreach, P.O. Box 444, Cheney WA 99004 in time to arrive by Wednesday, Dec. 17. 

The gifts are distributed to parents to select for their children on Friday Dec. 19. There are only two days, Dec. 16-17, left to register children or drop off a check or cash donation at Cheney Outreach, located at 616 Third St., lower level of the Wren Pierson Community Center. Hours are 9 – 11:30 a.m. Phone 235-8900 for more information.
