Harvey wins share Big Sky Player of the Week award

Eastern Washington University men’s basketball junior guard, Tyler Harvey, earned a share of the first Big Sky Conference Player of the Week Award of the season for helping lead the Eagles to a pair of victories over teams who advanced to the postseason last year.

In wins over NCAA Tournament participant Texas Southern (86-62) and NIT selection Utah Valley (75-50), Harvey averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He had just one turnover in 71 minutes of action while making 11-of-22 3-point attempts and 48 percent overall from the field.

Harvey shared the award with Portland State’s Tiegbe Bamba, the league announced, Nov. 18.

Eastern women sign Wenatchee basketball duo

Eastern Washington University women’s basketball head coach Wendy Schuller announced Nov. 12, the signing of two high school teammates to National Letters of Intent.

Alissa Sealby and Amira Chandler, both of whom prepped at Wenatchee High School, will come to Eastern following standout high school careers.

The 6-foot Sealby and Chandler, who checks in at 6-2, combined to lead the Panthers to a pair of Columbia Basin Big Nine District Playoff appearances while collecting numerous individual accolades along the way.

Sealby was a Second Team All-CBBN pick as a junior after receiving honorable mention honors as a sophomore. Chandler was a First Team All-CBBN selection and the CBBN Offensive Player of the Year in 2013-14 after averaging 12.5 points per game. She was also a second team pick as a sophomore.

“It’s exciting for us to be able to sign such talented young ladies from our home state,” Schuller said.
