McMorris Rodgers does not know her district

Letters to the Editor

Are some of us unworthy?

Cathy McMorris Rodgers must think so. She worked with her party to let a two-decade old law, the Violence Against Women Act, expire in 2013. She did not support the Senate version of the bill that expanded protections for all victims. Instead, Cathy sponsored a bill with no protection for Native Americans, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and undocumented immigrants. Her version of the bill was defeated by the House 166-257, after which the House passed the Senate bill by voice-vote.

When a roll-call vote was called, Cathy “suddenly” changed her position to support it since she knew her vote would then be recorded for view.

Is Cathy so isolated, or so removed from us, that she doesn’t see all of us as a collective group of humans who live in her district? Maybe she does not see all of us as worthy. She certainly votes time and again against women and families, proving her disregard for them and their health and well-being.

There is a candidate in this race running against this lack of regard. Joe Pakootas will not forget who lives in this district. You are all worthy in his view. His long-held business practices promote constructive action for our economy and the lives of all. Joe Pakootas should be your vote for 5th District Representative.
