Suspicious vehicle spotted at Fairchild Air Force Base

A suspicious vehicle parked at Fairchild Air Force Base, Oct. 21, prompted evacuations in the afternoon.

According to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs office, Fairchild officials learned about the vehicle at around 3:25 p.m.

The vehicle was parked between buildings 2248 and 2249, which house the Finance Squadron and Communications Squadron, respectively. Base officials evacuated people from those buildings and other surrounding facilities, according to a news release.

Fairchild’s gates were back open as of 4:55 p.m. and traffic on and off base resumed, according to the public affairs office. The incident is under investigation as of press time.
