Striding with pride

Students at Cheney School District's Snowdon Elementary School took part in "Pride Stride" activities last Friday afternoon to celebrate completion of the school's fund drive. Principal Shawna Fraser said students were tasked to ask five people for $5 each to raise money for new playground equipment such as balls and Hula Hoops – whose use is expertly demonstrated by student Kira Masters (right). Most all of the students turned in at least $25, Fraser said, with some turning in more to help raise over $13,000 for the equipment. Fraser said students will provide input on equipment they would like to purchase, and when it has all arrived, will gather in the gym to see what their efforts have brought them.
