Eva M. (McCaffery) Spilker

Eva M. (McCaffery) Spilker, age 87 of Medical Lake, Wash., passed away Sept. 30, 2014 in Spokane. She was born April 20, 1927 in Sprague, Wash. to Charles and Hazel (Bouslog) McCaffery.

Eva was raised in Davenport and was a graduate of Davenport High School, class of 1945.  She married George Spilker, also from Davenport, in 1948. Together they had nine children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Charles and four brothers, Leo, Edward, Gerald, and William, as well as her son Richard and granddaughter Danielle.

Eva was a long-time resident of Medical Lake where she had been a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and active member of the Pushie Grandma’s vs. MS organization.  She volunteered for more than 20 years in the library at the Medical Lake Middle School and was a room mother and member of the PTA at Medical Lake Elementary School.

Eva was an avid reader and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their numerous activities. A rosary was held on Sunday, Oct. 5, followed by a funeral Mass on Monday, Oct. 6. Both services were at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 708 E. Lake St,  Medical Lake. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane.
