The Cheney-Spokane Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute is sponsoring a free public lecture Thursday, Oct. 9, from 7 – 9 p.m. at Spokane Community College’s Lair Auditorium, Building No. 6.
The presentation by geologists Roy Breckenridge and Dean Garwood, “The Purcell Trench Ice Lobe Meets Glacial Lake Missoula Ice Age Floods in Idaho,” is an overview of new research on Ice Age Floods in northern Idaho. It involves glacial chronology, glacial deposit characterization and flood features recognized by new geologic mapping central to understanding the Ice Age Floods.
