Eastern volleyball plays at Idaho tourney
Off to its best start in eight years, the Eastern Washington University women’s volleyball team looks to continue its winning ways with a trio of matches this weekend as part of the Idaho Tournament in Moscow, Idaho.
EWU (4-2) opens play against the University of Portland at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12. The following day sees the Eagles square off with national power Missouri at 9:30 a.m. before facing Boise State at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon.
Eastern is coming off a successful 11-day trip to the East Coast that resulted in the program’s best start since 2006. EWU picked up four victories during its road swing through the Carolinas, topping Fairfield and NC State on neutral floors in Wilmington, N.C., before besting College of Charleston and High Point in hostile road environments. Three of the Eagles’ four wins have been of the five-set variety, including two outings that saw Eastern drop the first two frames only to rally back.
After their Idaho outing, the Eagles will come home for their lone home non-league match before the start of Big Sky play when they host Seattle University, Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at Reese Court.
