Ice Age Floods kiosk dedicated

The Cheney-Spokane Chapter of the Ice Age Floods Institute is holding a ceremony to dedicate the new Ice Age Floods kiosk in Cheney. The kiosk is located at the city visitor’s information center on First Street across from Spokane Transit Authority’s K Street bus station.

The dedication ceremony takes place Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Square dancing kicks off Sept. 7

Beginning square dance lessons start again on Sundays, beginning Sept. 7, 2-3:30 p.m. at Cheney’s City Hall. 

The Hi-Flyers Dance Club in Cheney is the fastest growing club in the Inland Northwest, with a popular young teacher, Adam Christman. Everyone is encouraged to relax, laugh, dance, make some mistakes, but most of all, to have fun.

Lessons are $4 per person, but each person’s first lesson is free. Casual clothing is encouraged.

Nina Leisi also offers Round Dance lessons again beginning Monday, Sept. 8, 7-9 p.m., also at City Hall, starting with simple two-steps.

FAFB veterans reunion Sept. 14

Veterans of Fairchild Air Force Base’s 92nd Air Wing are holding a reunion Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1-4 p.m. at Waterfront Park in Medical Lake. The get-together is for former and current Air Force members (including civilians) from the 92nd Wing at Fairchild. 

The purpose of the gathering is to see old friends, meet new friends from other 92nd generations, and share stories about the legacy of the 92nd. Limited food and drinks will be provided.

CHS sports passes available

The 2014-2015 Cheney High School sport passes went sale Aug. 25. The cost is $50 per adult. One adult pass will get their children in grades 5 and under free to all Blackhawks home athletic contests.

Passes are available at the high school.
