Mobile food truck in Cheney
Cheney’s Emmanuel Lutheran Church in partnership with West Spokane County Thrivent Chapter is bringing a 2nd Harvest mobile food truck to Cheney Wednesday, Aug. 27. The truck will be at Emmanuel Lutheran, 639 Elm St., from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Free produce and perishable products for low-income families and those needing food assistance will be available. No appointment or documentation is required. If you are picking up food for someone who cannot be present, please provide a note.

Cheney church holds VBS
This Sunday, Aug. 17, a week-long Vacation Bible School program, “Wilderness Escape,” will begin at Cheney United Methodist Church.
Beginning with a free family meal at 5:30 p.m., each evening will include stories, games, crafts and snacks as participants explore what life was like for the ancient Israelites after they escaped from slavery. Visit with Moses and meet new friends each night July 17-21 from 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Cheney UMC is located at 204 Fourth St.
Wellness fair and blood drive
There will be a wellness fair and blood drive Saturday, Aug. 23, located in the West Plains Wellness and Apex Physical Therapy parking lot, 2721 W. 14th Ave. in Airway Heights. There will be many fun, interactive healthcare screenings.
These will include diabetes testing, massage therapy, chiropractic, physical therapy, dental, weight loss information, personal training and cholesterol testing. The Inland Northwest Blood Center will have their blood mobile from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m. Anyone who is interested in attending can make appointment online at http://www.inbcsaves.org and use the sponsor code WestPlainsWellness.
