Deadlines for submitting West Plains Briefs is noon Monday. Briefs should be under 100 words if possible. Briefs may be edited for length.

All-Class reunion July 19

Please mark your calendar and plan on attending the Cheney All-Class reunion Saturday, July 19. Pack a lunch and head to Salnave Park in Cheney. Not hungry? Just come to visit. People start arriving around 10 a.m. but come any time.

Donna Lewis Pilcher and Jo Jordan Budweg want to especially encourage Amber Grade School alumni and staff to attend. They are hoping to have an honored guest from Cheney’s storied past attending. All classes are encouraged to bring old pictures to share.

Rodeo parade registration

Registration for the annual Cheney Rodeo Days parade is now open. The parade takes place Saturday, July 12, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in downtown Cheney.

Registration forms are available online at cheneyrodeo.com, or by calling 235-2754 or sending a fax request to 235-6882. Forms may be emailed to [email protected].

Cheney Zips and Owl Pharmacy sponsor the Cheney Rodeo Days parade.

County offices closed July 4

In observance of Independence Day, Spokane County offices will be closed on Friday, July 4. The Spokane County Courthouse, Public Safety Building, Human Resources, Veterans Services and SCRAPS will also be closed.   

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, 9-1-1, Crime Check, and other essential services remain open to serve the public. To report a crime, call Crime Check at 456-2233. Please call 9-1-1 to report a life-threatening emergency or if you need an immediate response by law enforcement.

Library branches closed

All Spokane County Library District facilities will be closed Friday, July 4, to observe Independence Day. Regular hours resume Saturday, July 5. All library district online services remain available 24/7.
