Medical Lake softball splits

Medical Lake ran its early-season winning streak to four straight before the string came to an end last week.

The Cardinal bats remained hot in a 16-4 win Tuesday at Freeman (0-2, 0-2) as Medical Lake (3-1 NEA, 4-1) scored both early with a four-run first inning and then late knocking home seven more in the sixth.

In all the Cards had 17 hits. Jordyn Soliday’s four, plus a triple, and Chelsea Hamby’s three hits, including a double, led Medical Lake. Shelby Pavao got her fourth pitching win.

Wednesday, Kettle Falls (3-1, 4-1) scored seven times in the first and added four more in the fourth in an 11-4 loss. Of Medical Lake’s eight hits Hailey Cheevers and Claire Dormaier each had a double. Pavao suffered her first pitching loss on the season.

Next up is a Saturday doubleheader at Chewelah (0-4, 0-4) beginning at 11 a.m.
