Ruth Joan Amos of Azalea, Ore., died Tuesday, Jan. 7, of natural causes at Riverview Terrace in Roseburg. A memorial service will be planned later.
Ruth and her husband were avid horticulturists who owned and managed the Azalea Gardens for 20 years. They were members of the Rhododendron Club and truly loved their flowers.
Ruth was secretary for the Azalea Garden Club and a member of the “Azalea Grange” for many years.
Ruth lived a wonderfully full life. She was raised in the Cheney area and graduated from the Cheney High School in 1941.
She served with the WAVES group during WWII. Ruth was a teacher and a real estate agent, and in her younger years was an avid underwater diver.
Ruth had a lovely singing voice and loved to sing at many functions.
Ruth touched many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
