Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The first Sunday of Lent will be celebrated at Emmanuel Lutheran Church this week on March 9. All are welcome to worship at 10:30 a.m. Christian education for grade school children through adult begins at 9 a.m.

Emmanuel would like to thank the community for participating in our “Festival of Chocolate” on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Your generous donations assure a successful vacation Bible school this summer.

Lenten mid-week soup supper and worship continues on Wednesday, March 12. Soup supper is served at 5:30 p.m. followed by Holden Evening Prayer worship at 6:30 p.m.

United Church of Christ

Cheney UCC warmly welcomes all individuals to Sunday services at 10 a.m., led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan, at the sanctuary located at 423 N. Sixth St. Since Daylight Savings time starts this weekend, we remind all our members and friends to “spring forward” and avoid the embarrassment of arriving an hour late to the worship service.

The men of the church gather Sunday, March 9 for the mens’ breakfast at Willow Springs Restaurant. All men are welcome, long-timers or visitors. The breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m.

Also this Sunday, the Ministries to Children team will introduce the “Lenten Service Project” to be undertaken by UCC’s Sunday school children. This year they will be gathering pocket change for the “Kids in Need of Desks (KIND) project.” Proceeds will go to the schools and children of Malawi, Africa.

The “Lunch Bunch” will meet Thursday, March 13, at noon. This potluck lunch group welcomes anyone who would like to participate. Opportunities always arise at these lunches for interesting conversation and catching up with friends.

United Methodist Church

Please join us on the first Sunday of Lent this week at the United Methodist Church. Worship is at 10 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Terry Hall. Preceding the service there are Sunday school classes at 9 a.m.

A second worship service is offered each Sunday evening at 6 p.m. This service is conversational in style and open to all.
