On Friday, Dec. 17, Cheney High School clubs combined to donate 252 toys to Spokane’s Tree of Sharing. The toy drive lasted two weeks and gave the clubs the goal of winning the Toy Drive trophy.
The clubs that competed in this event were DECA, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Family, Career, Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Farmers of America (FFA), Spanish Club and the National Honors Society, with FBLA collecting the most toys.
“This was a great event for our school and our club members,” FBLA advisor Adam Smith said in a news release. “Our combined efforts ended up filling the bed of a truck with toys that would go towards benefiting the lives of those in need this holiday season. Thanks to Cheney High School clubs and local businesses, 252 toys will help families have a brighter Christmas.”
Smith said the clubs would like to thank their individual advisors for putting the event together, and to the students who “gave so freely to help those in need during this holiday season.”
