Eastern seeks musicians for alumni/community band

Tune up your trumpets and tubas and dust off your old drums, all musicians are invited to be a part of the Eastern Washington University alumni/community band this Saturday for EWU’s national semi-final football game at Roos Field in Cheney.

With many students – and band members – now gone for the holidays, the university Music Department is once again putting out the call for area musicians to step forward and be a part of this mega pep band during the nationally televised game between Eastern and Towson University.

EWU will have about 42 of its own band members on hand, but has room for up to 200 for the game. Kickoff is at 11:05 a.m., and band members will be asked to gather about 8:45 at the Music Building on campus for a short rehearsal.

Please visit alumni.ewu.edu/alumniband2013 to register and get instructions. The website also includes music in PDF format, which you can download and organize for the game. While there may be a limited amount of instruments to use, the university recommends bringing your own. And remember to dress warmly, but wear as much red as possible – including a Santa hat if you have one.

Please direct questions to Patrick Winters, EWU director of bands at 359-6129 or [email protected].
