Cheney Community Church

This coming weekend Cheney Community Church celebrates its Jubilee (1963-2013) with the motto, “Branching From Our Roots Into The Future.”

The community is invited Friday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m. to a musical program featuring gospel songs and hymns of the past five decades. Sunday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. There will be a special worship service conducted by previous pastors. An open house follows until 3 p.m.

Regular activities during the week include Youth Group, 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday, and Awana Club for boys and girls, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Oct. 24 our church hosts the Women’s Connection, 9:30-11:00 a.m. Open to all ladies, and childcare is provided.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The 22nd Sunday after Pentecost will be celebrated at Emmanuel Lutheran Church this Sunday beginning with all age Christian education at 9 a.m. followed by worship at 10:30 a.m. Fellowship hour follows the worship service at 11:30 a.m.

Emmanuel is hosting StageWest Community Theater’s production of “It was a Dark and Stormy Night.” Play dates are Friday, Oct. 18 and 25 at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 and 26 at 7 p.m. Sunday matinee is Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.

The annual church bazaar and luncheon is rapidly approaching. Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 2. This is a great time to begin your early Christmas shopping.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

This Sunday is the 22nd Sunday after Pentecost. Morning prayer is at 11 a.m. Please join us.

The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane will hold its annual convention Friday through Sunday, Oct. 18-20 at St. John’s Cathedral. The featured speaker is Sara Miles, author of “Take this Bread.”

College students are invited to dinner with us Monday evenings at 5 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Following dinner is a short Bible study and/or worship service.

Under the direction of our new choir director, Davis Hill, choir rehearsals are each Thursday, 4-5 p.m. Come join us.

The annual Coats for Kids drive is underway. Please bring your donations to the church no later than this Friday, Oct. 18 for pick up.

Narcotics Anonymous meets in the Parish Hall each Tuesday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m.

Fellowship breakfast is Thursday mornings at 7:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Come and bring a friend.

St. Paul’s is located at 625 C St. on the edge of the EWU campus.

United Church of Christ

All are welcome to the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan in the sanctuary located at 423 N. Sixth St. In Part I of sermons on “A Reluctant Conclusion of Faith,” Krueger-Duncan will speak about Nicodemus.

After hearing the children’s minutes, school-age children may attend classes or stay during the service with their parents. Children under age five may go to the nursery from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

In preparation for the special congregational meeting on our tentative changes in church governance after the service Oct. 20, the council will meet as usual, on Oct. 15 in the Fireside Room.
