Cheney FFA shows off at Spokane fair

Cheney FFA had five showmen at the Spokane Interstate Fair. Seniors Shyann Morton and Chelsea Netz were in the Swine Barn while Cassie Evaneski and Cheyanne Rightler were in the Goat Barn.

The youngest of these ladies was freshman Kelci Scharff in the Beef Barn. There are many grand champion ribbons in Cheney’s hands after the fair.

Netz received both grand champions Feeding Hog and she won grand champion in the Senior Fitting and Showing class. Rightler won grand in her senior fitting and showing goat class and her senior Boer showmanship class. She also received overall Boer goat youth showman.

Netz and Rightler, because of their success in the fitting and showing class, both competed in the round robin competition. Netz took third place overall in this competitive show. These young showmen also brought home many purple and blue ribbons.

Morton received first purple in her senior fitting and showing class. Scharff received a blue ribbon in her fitting and showing class. Evaneski showed her Nubian doe, her Boer doe and her Boer market wether and took home a total of six blue ribbons.

For keeping the aisles clean for the public and having fun decorations and informational posters, Evaneski and Scharff both got first place in herdsmanship in their barns.

Netz and Morton, both seniors that have been showing at the fair since elementary school, both agree that their fair career ended strong, and they will miss showing at next year’s fair.
