Emmanuel Lutheran Church
All are welcome to worship at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Sunday, Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m. for the 20th Sunday after Pentecost. Preschool through adult education begins at 9 a.m. Fellowship follows the worship service.
Emmanuel will host StageWest Community Theater’s production of “It was a Dark and Stormy Night” written by Tim Kelly and directed by Charles Kenfield. Play dates are: Friday, Oct. 11, 18 and 25 at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 19, and 26 at 7 p.m. Sunday matinees are Oct. 13 and 27 at 3 p.m. Please note that Oct. 26 is reserved dinner theater night. A four course New England dinner prepared by Willow Springs will be served at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $25 for pre-sale dinner reservation purchased by Oct. 21. The annual church bazaar and luncheon is rapidly approaching. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 2. Crafts, soup lunch, pie, coffee, raffle basket, white elephant items and more will be available. This is a great time for early Christmas shopping.
United Church of Christ
During fellowship hour following the service this week, you might hear talk of silent auctions items, baking, or crafting new creations for the fall bazaar. As usual, the UCC bazaar will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 2, the same day as the Lutherans’ and the Methodists’ bazaars - what fun.
Pastor David Krueger-Duncan will lead the communion service during the 10 a.m. worship service at the United Church of Christ located at 423 N. Sixth St. All are welcome. School-age children are urged to attend classes after the children’s minutes but may attend the entire service with their parents.
Now parents of pre-schoolers will carry new pagers during the service in case their children need them to come to the nursery. Childcare is available there from 9:45-11:15 a.m.
United Methodist Church
Please be our guest at worship Sunday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church as we join churches around the world in “World Communion Sunday.” The Rev. Terry Hall will lead the service and the celebration of Holy Communion. Christian education classes for all ages are at 9 a.m. Please join us in worship and in study.
At 6 p.m. Sunday there is a second worship service opportunity. The service is conversational in style and open to all.
There will be a depression support group hosted at the church beginning Oct. 3 and continuing on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The group begins at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone who is experiencing depression in his or her life or in the life of a loved one.
