Chiefs to play exhibition at URC

Lone preseason home game is Sept. 11 in Cheney

The Spokane Chiefs have announced that their only home preseason game, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 11, will be hosted at the University Recreation Center (URC) at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The Chiefs will host the Tri-City Americans, with official game time slated for 7:05 p.m. Doors at the URC will open for fans at 6:05 p.m.

“The Spokane Chiefs are looking forward to the game and strengthening our relationship with EWU as well as expanding our fan base in the Cheney area,” Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz said. “The University Recreation Center at Eastern Washington University is a first class facility that will be a great venue to host a pre season game.”

Tickets for the game will go on sale beginning today (Thursday, Aug, 22), during the first day of the Chiefs Annual Fall Camp. They will be available through the Spokane Chiefs ticket office, located at the southeast corner of Spokane Arena, and on-site at the URC in Cheney.

The Chiefs originally scheduled an exhibition game at the URC in 2011 but it was later moved to Spokane after what EWU officials called a “scheduling conflict,” tied to the arrival of students on campus.

Spokane will play their Red-White scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Spokane Arena and then play in tournaments in Everett and Tri City prior to the Cheney contest.
