What started as a possible driving under the influence call ended with a Lamont, Wash. man in custody for three felony charges Fourth of July morning.
About 11 a.m. Cheney Police Officer Matt Pumphrey responded to Mitchell’s Harvest Foods on a call about a man who appeared intoxicated pulling up to the store on the 100 block of West First Street. Pumphrey contacted Phillip A Hayes, 53, as Hayes was returning to his vehicle, Cheney Police Sgt. Rick Beghtol said.
