ZIMMERMAN, Roger Alan (age 75) – Born May 19, 1937 in Beatrice Neb. Passed away suddenly of a heart attack, on May 12, 2013 in Cheney, Wash, doing what he liked best…”going for a drive with our Mom!”
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan; his brother, Larry (Renee) Zimmerman of Steptoe, Wash; his children, Linda (Dennis) Wederspahn of Cheney, Jeff (Kristy) Zimmerman of Spokane, Dan (Bonnie) Zimmerman of Mead, Dave (Christine) Zimmerman of Medical Lake, Steve (Brenda) Johnson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Teresa Johnson of Spokane; a sister-in-law, Cassandra Gregg of Portland, Ore.; also by two grandchildren, Blaise and Ashley; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Roger moved to Cheney with his parents, Les and Lorna Zimmerman in 1948.
Upon graduating from Cheney High School in 1955, he entered the Coast Guard Reserves and began working for Wendle Ford. He then went to work for Ratcliffe Ford in Cheney and soon purchased Cheney Auto Parts – which became Roger’s Auto Parts, Tire Service and Radiator Service. Around 1979, he became owner operator of Roger’s Towing.
“Dad was a good hearted soul who truly loved his work and meeting those he assisted. He loved his family, NASCAR, wrestling, and always his dogs.”
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division, Spokane, with burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery, S. 5909 Cheney-Spokane Road (approx. 2 p.m.). A reception, honoring Roger, will follow at the Spangle Service Club.
