In partnership with the IRS, the AARP Free Taxaide service is again open at the Cheney Library. Volunteers are certified with the Internal Revenue Service to assist taxpayers with their taxes.
The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs to provide free basic tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income and elderly taxpayers. This includes taxpayers with disabilities, limited English proficiency, students and the military.
The Cheney site is available by appointment Thursday evenings from 4-7 p.m. and Friday afternoons from 1-5 p.m. throughout the tax season. The last day for appointments is April 12. To schedule an appointment in Cheney call the appointment line at 509-358-3526.
