Mary Ellis Reid (age 81) passed away Jan. 15, 2013 in Spokane, Wash. Mary was born Jan. 9, 1932 in Joplin, Mo. to Arling and Lottie High-Talbot and was a graduate of Manteca High School, class of 1950. After completing business school she worked in California as a bookkeeper.
She married Leroy “Roy” H. Reid in December 1951 and became a devoted military wife and mother. Together they raised three loving children. Mary lived an active, full life and enjoyed sewing, knitting, woodworking, reading, gardening, and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arling High, mother, Lottie High-Talbot, stepfather, Clark Talbot, brother Cliff High and son-in-law Dennis Helsing. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her devoted husband Roy, devoted children Cheryl Helsing, Randall Reid, and Laura Hoyle; daughter-in-law Melinda Reid and son-in-law Ken Hoyle along with beloved grandchildren Candice Helsing, Ashley and Alexander Myers, Jessica and Francisco Cazares, Kaitlyn Helsing, Emalee Hoyle and Marilee Hoyle.
A graveside service was held Jan. 18, at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Hospice House, 121 S.
