Vernon, known as Darrin, left this life unexpectedly July 3rd, 2012 at age 44. Darrin was born in Davenport, Wash., 1968 and made Cheney his home starting in kindergarten. Darrin graduated from Cheney High School in 1986 and earned his degree in education from Eastern Washington University in 1992, and taught school for 20 years. Darrin was known as a life-long wrestling enthusiast passing the passion for wrestling on to start the first wrestling club in Cheney known as the Cheney Mat Hawks. Darrin lived strong and his favorite motto is “Champions are not born, they are made”. Darrin is a champion in every sense, living his life and passing it as well. Darrin made several friends through teaching and coaching, he touched people's lives being a true person and sticking to his convictions. Darrin is the father people dream of, caring for his children and family was always his first priority. His son Elias is his champion and his daughter Alexa will always be his princess.
To cherish his memory Darrin leaves behind his wife Jamie, daughter Alexa, son Elias, mother Linda, step mother Sandy, brothers Aaron (Cathy), and Timothy (Katrina), nephews Justin, Jonathon, James, Joseph, and Shaderack, and countless friends.
Darrin was preceded in death by his father Douglas Mason and his beloved nephew Jordan Mason.
The service for Darrin will be held at Life Center of Spokane 1202 N. Government Way, Saturday July 7th at 11 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts that donations are made to: Washington Little Guys Wrestling League, 1010 S. Josephine, Kettle Falls, WA 99141.
