Increasing enrollment demands are leading officials at Eastern Washington University to close the application for admissions for new freshmen May 15. Transfer students and returning students may still apply for admission, applications for all students remain available for winter and spring quarters.
“Eastern takes pride in creating opportunities for students to work with professors and gain valuable workplace skills,” EWU President Rodolfo Arévalo said in a May 8 news release. “Closing the application in order to maintain small and efficient class sizes is just one way we show our commitment to maintaining academic excellence.”
Arévalo pointed out freshmen applications at Eastern are up by 14 percent over figures from last year. This follows four consecutive years of record enrollment, with over 12,000 students on campus to start the current academic year.
