Eastern Washington has gained a representative on an important statewide commission that makes recommendations for strategic investments to promote freight mobility.
On April 2, Gov. Christine Gregoire appointed Cheney Mayor Tom Trulove to the Washington Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board. The FMSIB is tasked to facilitate freight movement between local, national, and international markets.
Washington's economy, which depends heavily on trade in the global marketplace, requires an efficient multimodal transportation network to retain its competitive advantage. The FMSIB proposes policies, projects, corridors and funding to the legislature to promote strategic investments in a statewide freight mobility transportation system.
Trulove, chair of the Eastern Washington University Economics Department, brings more than three decades of experience studying various public policy and industry issues to the board. Trulove also serves as board chairman of the Associated Industries of the Inland Northwest, and is recent past chairman of the state's Community Economics Revitalization Board.
