Police Reports: 3/12 to 3/20

CHENEY

March 12

A 10-year-old male was arrested for malicious mischief at Betz Elementary School after he threw eggs and wrote on doors at the school.

March 13

Residential burglary was reported on the 300 block of F Street.

March 14

Domestic violence was reported on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road—verbal only.

Kaneshia S. Brooks, 22, was arrested for shoplifting at Cheney Trading Company.

Theft of street barricades was reported on the 200 block of Elm Street.

A 10-year-old male was arrested for fourth-degree assault on the 300 block of North Seventh Street.

During a welfare check on March 6, police discovered a violation of a court order was occurring at a residence on the zero hundred block of North Second Street. On March 14, police mailed a citation to Jeremy L. Huntley, 28, for violating a court order.

March 15

Sarah R. Martinez, 21, was arrested for driving while license suspended (DWLS) on the 2700 block of First Street.

Theft was reported on the 1100 block of First Street.

Jeremy L. Huntley, 28, was arrested at Cheney Municipal Court for a felony Department of Corrections violation.

Yoni Rodriguez, 19, was arrested for DWLS on the 900 block of Washington Street.

March 16

Harassment was reported on the 1100 block of First Street—incident was being investigated.

Theft of an orange bicycle was reported on the zero hundred block of North Second Street.

Hit and run was reported on the 900 block of Cedar Street.

Jason T. Gomez, 24, and Brian F. Perry, 25, were both arrested for malicious mischief on the 100 block of College Avenue.

March 17

Damage to a car window was reported on the 300 block of Sixth Street.

Damien R. Favors-Harper, 22, was arrested for DWLS on the 1500 block of Second Street.

Two bicycles were found on the 600 block of West Fifth Street.

Damage to storage units was reported on the 1000 block of Second Street.

A vehicle struck a business on the 1800 block of Second Street.

March 18

A tire was slashed on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road.

A suicide attempt occurred on the 1600 block of First Street—subject was involuntarily committed.

First-degree burglary was reported on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road—incident was under investigation.

Theft of a purse with credit cards was reported on the 300 block of First Street.

March 19

Kyle W. Hinshaw, 22, was arrested at Cheney Municipal Court on a warrant for failure to comply with a reckless endangerment charge.

Possession of drug paraphernalia was reported at Cheney Middle School—no arrest was made and the school handled the incident.

Unauthorized charges on a debit card was reported on the 100 block of Fifth Street.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

March 14

Officers investigated a possible malicious harassment. A student made an inappropriate post on Facebook, was contacted and confirmed the event described would not take place.

A theft of non-hazardous chemicals was reported at the Science Building. No leads or suspects.

March 15

Officers responded to a report of a malfunctioning smoke detector at Brewster Hall. Detector was disabled. Officers noticed odor of marijuana and contacted residents. Three male students were arrested for possession of marijuana, two for misdemeanor counts and for felony possession over 40 grams.

Officers responded to report of theft at the University Recreation Center. A female student placed her backpack in an unsecured locker in the women's changing room. When she returned, a black jacket valued at $180 was missing from the pack. Under investigation.

March 17

Officers responded to an indecent exposure incident at JFK Library. A juvenile was detained and referred to authorities.

Officers investigated a possible drug violation on the fifth floor of Pearce Hall. Odor of marijuana was detected but none was found. Five male students were cited and referred to Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities for minor in possession of alcohol and possible smoking of marijuana.

Officers responded to a possible alcohol violation at Pearce Hall. A highly intoxicated male student was found on the fifth floor yelling in the building's interior stairway. Contacted and cited.

March 18

University officers assisted Cheney police with a fight in progress at The Grove Apartments on the 200 block of Cheney-Spangle Road. EWU officers held incident perimeter while Cheney did investigation.

MEDICAL LAKE

March 12

An attempted burglary was reported on the 1000 block of Prentis Street. A female victim contacted police, who took a report at the residence. There was no evidence to show the suspects gained entry.

Police responded to a burglary report on the 100 block of West Lake Street. Burglars attempted to gain entry through a door, but were unsuccessful.

Video games, a camera and jewelry were taken in a burglary on the 100 block of South Walker Street. Officers took a report at the location. There are no suspects at this time.

Malicious mischief was reported on the 400 block of North Silver Avenue. A juvenile was egging vehicles and mailboxes in the area. No damage was reported from the incident.

March 15

Officers responded to a domestic violence report on the 5800 block of South Hayford Road. Patricia Barnes, 35, was arrested and charged with assault – domestic violence.

March 17

A complainant reported an unwanted guest on the 8100 block of West Jensen Road. Police took a report on a verbal argument.

March 18

Police stopped a suspicious vehicle on East Lake Street and North Lefevre Street. Katie Rafter, 31, was arrested on a local DWLS warrant.

Officers assisted the Airway Heights Police Department with a traffic stop on the 6900 block of South Craig Road.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS

March 14

Michelle E. Hopkins, 43, was arrested for third-degree theft on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

March 15

Officers took a report of a hit and run accident on the 10600 block of West 12th Avenue.

Casey R. Ackerman, 22, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on 9th Avenue and Hayford Road.

March 16

Roger M. Roberts, 66, was arrested for second-degree DWLS on 9th Avenue and Hayford Road.

Jessica M. Wright, 34, was arrested for no valid operator's license without identification on 12th Avenue and Lawson Street.

Officers took a report of a vehicle prowl on the 10100 block of West Highway 2.

March 17

Shawn D. Sweeney, 50, was arrested for violation of a no contact order — domestic violence — and no valid operator's license without identification on Highway 2 and Hayford Road.

Marty R. Sprayberry, 30, was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of a juvenile runaway on the 1100 block of South Aspen Place.

March 18

Heather S. Collard, 36, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Hayford Road and 12th Avenue.

Officers took a report of a juvenile runaway that occurred on the 900 block of South Ziegler Street.

Theodore F. Gilman, 45, was arrested for taking a motor vehicle without owner's permission and resisting arrest on Sprague Avenue and Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of a wanted person on Highway 2 and Lundstrom Street.

Unconia I. Al-Hajri, 26, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Hayford Road and Sprague Avenue.

Officers took a report of forgery on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Beatriz Montiel Bustamante, 24, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Highway 2 and Garfield Road.

Marcus C. Varner, 26, was arrested for fourth-degree assault — domestic violence — and third-degree malicious mischief — domestic violence — on Highway 2 and Garfield Road.

March 19

Officers took a report of theft of a firearm on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Henry L. Odell, 41, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an unlawful issuance of checks and third-degree DWLS on the 1300 block of South Ziegler Street.

Officers took a report of burglary on the 10900 block of West Highway 2.

March 20

Joshua J. Kenyon, 31, was arrested for fourth-degree assault — domestic violence — on the 300 block of South Aspen Street.

Holly L. Shields, 43, was arrested for first-degree criminal trespass on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.
