Police Reports: 3/5 to 3/13

CHENEY

March 5

An ongoing domestic violence dispute was reported to the Cheney Police Department.

An abandoned small boat and trailer first reported in November were impounded on the 800 block of Chestnut Street.

A two-vehicle non-injury collision occurred on the 1100 block of Golden Hills Drive.

A two-vehicle non-injury collision occurred on the 100 block of Pineview Place.

March 6

Domestic violence — verbal only — was reported on the 1300 block of Third Street.

Ronald L. Ricci, Jr., 21, was arrested for driving while license suspended (DWLS) on the 1300 block of First Street.

Theft was reported on the 2600 block of First Street—unlawful use of a credit card.

A street sign was taken from the 400 block of First Street.

Gasoline was siphoned from a vehicle on the 2200 of First Street.

March 7

A suicidal subject was reported on the 200 block of Second Street and was voluntarily committed to the hospital.

A wedding ring was found on the 200 block of North Sixth Street.

A suicidal subject was reported on the 700 block of West First Street and was taken to the hospital.

Prescription medications were taken from the 300 block of Erie Street.

An aluminum engine block was stolen from the 200 block of Betz Road and recovered by Spokane Police Department. Cheney police were working with Spokane Police Department to investigate this incident.

March 9

Curtis D. Hatfield, 51, was arrested on the 2600 block of First Street for a warrant — escaped from a mental hospital in Spokane.

March 10

Harassment was reported on the 600 block of Elm Street.

A silver Honda Civic was taken without the owner's permission on the 1000 block of Betz Road.

Damage to a vehicle — flat tire — was reported on the 300 block of First Street.

Domestic violence — verbal only — was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road.

A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 200 block of Simpson Parkway.

Domestic violence — verbal only — was reported on the 1100 block of First Street.

Jeffrey L. Carter, 52, was arrested on the 600 block of Second Street for DWLS and on a Spokane warrant for DWLS.

March 11

Theft was reported on the 1300 block of Third Street.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

March 5

University police assisted Cheney officers with an unsecure premise on the 200 block of Walker Drive. A malfunctioning latch led to the front door being opened, likely by the wind, and officers searched the home to make sure nobody was present.

March 6

An officer contacted a male student sitting in a vehicle in upper Parking Lot 13 by Morrison Hall. Odor of marijuana was detected. Student was arrested for possession of marijuana. Incident sent to Cheney Municipal Court and university Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.

March 7

A report of a theft occurring Feb. 13 was taken. An international student left his iPhone on a desk in the Science Building during chemistry class and when he returned an hour later it was missing.

March 9

Third-degree theft was reported at the University Recreation Center. A student left her black, fleece North Face jacket in an unsecured locker around 11 a.m. and when she returned the jacket was missing. Value is $160. Incident is under investigation.

Third-degree theft was reported at the URC Fitness Center. A student put his wallet on a windowsill and when he returned the wallet was missing.

March 10

Officers investigated a report of a vehicle prowl in Parking Lot 4 next to Martin Hall. A male parked his vehicle in the lot about 8 p.m. and when he returned around 1:40 a.m. he noticed the center console and glove compartment were opened and the contents searched through. Vehicle was left unlocked, but nothing was missing.

University police assisted Cheney PD with a domestic violence in progress at the Barrington Apartments.

A theft (shoplifting) was reported at the Eagle Shop in the Pence Union Building. A former student left the shop but was detained by the officer and arrested. Incident forwarded to Cheney Municipal Court.

March 11

University police assisted Cheney PD with a burglary in progress on the zero hundred block of West Second. A highly intoxicated male was trying to gain entry to the wrong apartment at just after 5 a.m.

A report of telephone harassment was taken at Pearce Hall. A disturbing text message was left. Incident is under investigation.

MEDICAL LAKE

March 5

Police impounded a vehicle on West Brooks Road and North Staples Street. The driver, Michael Patterson, 51, received a ticket for DWLS.

March 6

Officers took a report of malicious mischief on the 700 block of North Stanley Street. Graffiti was found on the side of a building.

Officers took a report of a broken window on the 2300 block of South Jays Road.

March 7

A complainant reported a theft on the 800 block of West Maple Street. The incident is still under investigation.

March 9

Police assisted officers in the Spokane Valley regarding a possible child luring attempt.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS

March 7

Charles W. Bliss, 26, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for a fourth-degree assault charge — domestic violence — on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Shawna M. Bryant, 30, was arrested on a warrant for third-degree DWLS on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

March 8

Joshua D. Strom, 36, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Highway 2 and Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of a traffic accident with damages on Highway 2 and Hayford Road.

March 9

Officers took a report of second-degree malicious mischief on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Spence L. Dassow, 30, was arrested for second-degree assault — domestic violence — on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of vehicle theft on the 10600 block of West 12th Avenue.

March 10

Angelo E. Santiago, 32, was arrested on a civil bench warrant on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

March 11

Officers took a report of a juvenile runaway on the 600 block of South Lawson Street.

March 12

Officers took a report of third-degree theft on the 900 block of South Ziegler Street.

Officers took a report of a suspicious person or circumstance on the 10600 block of West 12th Avenue.

Robert A. Taylor, 37, was arrested for third-degree theft — shoplifting — on the 1200 block of South Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of third-degree malicious mischief on the 700 block of South Horton Street.

March 13

Mikhail Kandrashuk, 30, was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Hayford Road and Balmer Road.

Doris T. San Nicolas, 51, was arrested for burglary on the 12500 block of West Highway 2.
