Spokane County officials announced Nov. 18 that County Commissioners Todd Mielke and Al French have been elected to positions with the Washington State Association of Counties board of directors.
Mielke has been picked to be the board's secretary-treasurer, a position putting him in line for the WSAC presidency in 2014. Mielke also serves as co-chair of the association's Legislative Steering Committee.
“So much of what we do at the local level is dictated by the state Legislature and state agencies,” Mielke said in a press release. “Our ability to influence that process is through our state association of counties.”
French was picked to serve on the WSAC board as one of four Eastern Region representatives. He also represents county commissioners/council members from throughout Washington as a member of the Municipal Research Service Center board of directors.
