A father fishing with his two sons complained to a resort manager at West Medical Lake of a man fishing naked on the lake's west bank.
Police arrested Dean H. Meginniss, 54, around 2:15 p.m. Aug. 14 on a felony charge of indecent exposure.
After receiving a call from the father about the man, saying he stood up as their boat moved down the lake, resort employees came down and asked Meginnis to put on clothing. By the time officers arrived at the scene he had donned a pair of shorts and was fishing with a friend.
When officers checked their database, Meginnis' name showed an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with stalking and a previous conviction in 2009 for indecent exposure. Since the incident was repeated, it became a felony. He was arrested on the warrant and for indecent exposure.
According to a news release from the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, resort staff had received complaints throughout the summer of a man fishing naked along the shoreline.
Following his arrest, Meginnis made a first appearance in court Aug. 15. He was released, and has an arraignment set for Aug. 24.
