Spokane County Raceway to host Lucas Drag series

Spokane County Raceway will host the third round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series beginning Friday and running through Sunday, June 19.

Racing will take place in a wide variety of classes from alcohol funny cars and dragsters that cover the quarter-mile as fast as just over 5 seconds to street cars that take nearly 20 seconds to reach the finish line. An estimated 300 race teams are expected to compete in 13 race classes.

“The track has never been better and with cool temperatures, we should see some fantastic times,” general manager Cindy Gibbs said.

This will be the third consecutive week of major racing events at SCR with road racing, late model stock cars and monster trucks having visited. Gates open on Friday at 9 a.m. with a test and tune session from noon to 5 p.m. On Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. with time trials starting at 9 a.m. Top alcohol car qualifying takes place at noon, 2:30 and 5 p.m.

Sunday will feature all final eliminations. Gates open at 8 a.m. with Sportsman eliminations set for 9 a.m. and Round 1 of Top Alcohol cars at noon.

Admission is $15 on Friday and $25 per day on both Saturday and Sunday. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult and each ticket includes a pit pass.
