Police Reports June 1-14

CHENEY

June 6

A 14-year-old male was arrested for possession of stolen property at Cheney Middle School. Incident was reported on June 3.

A suicidal subject was involuntarily committed to the hospital on the 600 block of G Street.

A wallet was taken from a vehicle on the 800 block of West First Street.

Possible possession of a controlled substance was reported on the 500 block of First Street.

A DVD was taken from the 800 block of Second Street.

Tracey F. Hawkins, 20, was arrested at the Cheney High School on a Spokane Municipal Court misdemeanor warrant.

Domestic violence—verbal only—was reported on the zero hundred block of North Sixth Street.

A two-vehicle, non-injury hit and run occurred on the 600 block of Betz Road.

June 7

After he eluded the Cheney K9 unit June 3, Daniel D. Sallee, 20, was arrested on the 2200 block of First Street on a Department of Corrections felony escape warrant.

A tire and wheel were taken off a vehicle on the 100 block of College Hill Street.

A 17-year-old male was arrested at the Cheney High School for having a weapon—knife—on school property.

A Cheney suspect was accused of harassing an Airway Heights individual by text messaging. Incident was under investigation.

June 8

A rototiller was stolen on the 300 block of College Street.

Officers were unable to serve a protection order on the 1200 block of First Street starting June 6. The court rescinded the order.

June 9

Possession of a controlled substance was reported on the 2400 block of University Lane. The investigation on this incident is pending.

Jessep B. Larsen, 29, was arrested on the 2400 block of University Lane for trespassing.

A backpack was taken on the 600 block of Fourth Street.

Police received a report a student brought prescription medications to Cheney Middle School about a month ago.

Signs were knocked over on the 1100 block of Salnave Road.

A suicidal subject was involuntarily committed to the hospital on the 1200 block of First Street.

June 10

A juvenile Spokane runaway was reported found on the 100 block of Third Street.

Ngewakl O. Sakuma, 29, was arrested for driving while license suspended on the 600 block of First Street.

Rachelle R. Waite, 18, and Tracey F. Hawkins, 20, were both arrested for shoplifting at Ben Franklin.

Joshua T. Ricco, 19, was arrested for domestic violence-related assault on the zero hundred block of Vine Street.

Some signs were pulled down and garbage cans were tipped over on the 700 block of Sixth Street.

June 11

Marquis L. Woods, 21, was arrested on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road for malicious mischief after he kicked in a door and threw a fire extinguisher in a pool.

A boat was damaged on the 2600 block of Bethany Lane.

June 12

A cell phone was taken on the 900 block of First Street.

A stop sign was removed on the 800 block of Fourth Street. The stop sign has been recovered.

Domestic violence—verbal only—was reported on the 200 block of Simpson Parkway.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

June 1

A collision was reported in the lower Roos Field parking lot at the intersection of Washington and Elm streets. A vehicle hit a light pole base causing minor injuries. Collision was due to driver inattentiveness.

A collision was reported in Parking Lot 3 near the Computer Science and Engineering Building. A Chevy pickup and a Dodge Stratus attempting to exit the parking lot collided, heavily damaging the Stratus.

Malicious mischief was reported in a Pence Union Building second floor men's bathroom. Graffiti spray-painted similar to previous campus-wide incidents.

June 2

A theft of a chair from the PUB dining services was reported. The chair was stolen from the second floor and replaced with a damaged one.

A female university employee reported that an ex-boyfriend had resumed harassing her after a three-year lull. Incident is under investigation.

University officers assisted Cheney police with a possible drug violation on the 500 block of First Street. The incident is under investigation.

Malicious mischief was reported in the PUB. An employee reported graffiti painted on a heater unit near the multi-purpose room stairwell. The graffiti is similar to previous incidents.

June 3

University police stopped a driver who was operating a vehicle with a headlight out. Officers determined the driver did not possess a valid driver's license and was arrested for driving while license suspended.

University police observed a male near First and F streets punch a parked limousine near the Basement. Male was intoxicated and was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Officers assisted Cheney police with a possible fight at 1:55 a.m. on Second between F and G streets near Owl Pharmacy. Approximately 75 people were yelling and were eventually disbursed.

A possible alcohol violation was reported in Pearce Hall. Three students were contacted and referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR).

June 5

A theft was reported in Dressler Hall. A student took his xBox unit to another student's room to play video games and left the unit there. The room occupant went to take a shower at approximately 2:30 p.m. and when he returned to the room the xBox was gone. Stolen was a white, GBX360 with the “Call of Duty: Black Ops” video game installed. The serial number was produced and the incident is under investigation.

June 6

Officers assisted Cheney police with a domestic violence in progress. It was determined no assault occurred.

June 8

Malicious mischief was reported near JFK Library at 3:28 a.m. Mall-area fountain was discovered full of suds after detergent had been poured into it.

A collision was reported in Parking Lot 4 between Martin and Sutton halls. A car leaving a stall backed into another vehicle.

June 9

A possible drug violation was reported in Morrison Hall. Officers contacted a male student regarding the odor of marijuana and also discovered alcohol. Referred to OSRR.

June 10

A theft was reported in Pearce Hall. Money was taken from the hall's main office, but returned the following day, June 11. Incident is under investigation.

A theft was reported at the PUB. A table and several chairs were missing from the Cyber Café. Table is valued at $450; chairs at $100 a piece.

A theft was reported at the Townhouse Apartments. A yellow Summit mountain bike was reported taken sometime between 9 p.m. June 7 and 8 a.m. June 9.

Officers assisted Cheney police with a shoplifting at Ben Franklin. Four shoplifters reported in the building, eventually one was arrested.

Police observed two females and one male drop a large object in the alley of the 500 block of G Street. The suspects were contacted and officers discovered the object was a statue of a man. When group was questioned they said they didn't know where it had come from. During questioning marijuana was detected and upon a search discovered marijuana and paraphernalia on the male. Male arrested for possession of marijuana. Statue, described as about 3-feet tall of a man holding a dove is in EWU police property room.

June 13

Officers assisted Cheney police on a domestic violence report with injuries on the 200 block of First Street. Male was arrested for domestic violence assault.

A theft was reported at EWU property on Badger Lake. EPIC Adventures staff reported that 40 steps leading down the hillside to the waterfront had been taken. Last time staff was at the property was in March. Staff member said it took 15 hours to build steps. Incident is under investigation.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS

June 8

An adult female was arrested for fourth-degree assault.The incident occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

June 9

An adult female was arrested for fourth-degree assault that occurred on the 300 block of South Aspen Street.

Officers took a report of fraud on the 300 block of South Campbell Street.

Officers took an information report regarding burglary that occurred on the 12000 block of West 9th Avenue.

Officers assisted Airway Heights Correction Center in an incident that occurred at Medical Lake.

June 10

An adult female was arrested for failing to appear for a theft warrant that occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

June 11

Officers took a report of third-degree malicious mischief that occurred on the 1900 block of South Campbell Street.

An adult male was arrested for third-degree DWLS that occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of vehicle prowling that occurred on the 12000 block of West 18th Avenue.

June 12

Officers took a report of second-degree theft that occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

June 13

An adult male was arrested for third-degree theft that occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

June 14

An adult female was arrested for fourth-degree assault that occurred on the 12000 block of West 10th Avenue.

MEDICAL LAKE

June 6

Prowling was reported at North Christopher Street and North Lindsay Street. Three suspects were seen in the street and started running south. Two of the suspects, a 28-year-old and a 17-year-old, were detained at Tara Lee Avenue and Prentice Street. A witness was able to identify the suspects, all of whom were arrested.

A traffic stop was performed along State Route 902 near North Stanley Street. Officers stopped a 1992 Honda Civic and checked the names of two males. Initially stopped for an inoperative taillight, three infractions were issued.

Police attempted to contact a suspect involved with a theft. The suspect was not at the residence.

Police responded to call from a female reporting a suicide attempt. The female received a text message from her husband who said he was firing his weapon at home. Her multiple calls to him yielded no response. After officers were sent out, the female received a message stating that the man was not at home, but in the woods. Police spent time searching the area for his truck, and left a message on his phone.

June 7

Police performed a traffic stop at West Fancher Road and South Pine Street. A female driver in a 1986 BMW was issued a speeding infraction. She had no proof of insurance.

June 9

Police responded to a vehicle prowl in progress at the 1000 block of North Christopher Street. A blue Toyota truck was involved, but received no damage.

A vehicle prowl was reported at the 1000 block of North Prentis Street. The report was filed with Crime Check.

Police responded to an accident involving a 2004 Toyota pickup truck and a school bus. Initially reported to have possible injuries, none were reported.

Residential burglary was reported at the 500 block of South Jefferson Street. A female complainant said that her 46-year-old daughter had broken into the house. Medication was reported as stolen. A related call allowed police to find the daughter who had overdosed on the medication. The daughter, Julie A. Glass, was arrested for residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

Police responded to suspicious vehicles in the area of North Jessie Street and East Norma Lee Avenue. A 2004 Mazda RX 8 and 1999 Audi A44 were left parked overnight. Both vehicles received written citations.

June 10

Police responded to a protection order violation on the 400 block of North Hallett Street. The female complainant reported that her 41-year-old husband, Barry Lee Martin, had stopped by the house. Martin had been restrained from going to the residence and was later arrested.

Two suspicious people were reported at Waterfront Park, in the area of West Fancher Road and South Pine Street. Police informed them of park hours.

June 12

Police stopped a 1988 Jeep at South Brooks Road and West Hallett Road. The driver, a female, received a verbal warning for speeding.

June 13

Police took a malicious mischief report regarding graffiti found at Medical Lake High School.

The driver of a 1990 Geo Metro received a verbal warning from police in regards to expired tabs on the corner of East Ladd Street and North Stanley Street. The front tab was not current and the back tab was not clearly displayed.

A burglary attempt was reported on the 200 block of West James Street. A police officer discovered the incident, which occurred before 4:30 p.m. The back gate to a residence was open, as well as the rear sliding door. Nothing was taken from the property.
