Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Lutheran Campus Ministry at EWU will hold their Second Annual Golf Tournament on June 30, 2011 at the Fairways Golf Course, Cheney. Registration due date is June 20, 2011. For more information please go to lcmewu.yahoo.com.

A “two-site” Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15. “Splish Splash” will be the theme for this year's program. The Lutherhaven staff will lead the children through a week of learning, games, crafts and activities. Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host children who will be entering grades 1-6 this fall. A daily sack lunch will be needed as our VBS hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. St. Rose Catholic Church will host children ages 3-5 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration forms are available at Emmanuel Lutheran Church above the mail box on 639 Elm St. Please take a form for each child you will be registering. Thank you!

Mark your calendars for our annual “Worship in the Park” worship service. Worship will be at the Sutton Park gazebo on Sunday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. Bring your neighbors, friends, and comfortable lawn chair. Refreshments will be served following the worship service.

Church of the Nazarene

Mark your calendars for the year's most exciting adventure—PandaMania VBS 2011! June 20-24, 2011 (9 a.m.-noon). Children 3 years of age—fifth grade are invited to join the PandaMania adventure where God is wild about you! Join us at the Cheney Church of the Nazarene for worship and Bible study programs throughout the week; child care is provided. Sunday School (infants through adults) begins at 9:15 a.m. Worship services begin at 10:30 a.m. On Wednesday evenings, you are invited to attend an evening of fellowship and study for all age groups: Kids Konnection (ages 3-12) and Youth Group starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening adult ladies Bible study programs begin at 6 p.m. 338 Betz Road, Cheney, (509) 235-6261. http://www.cheneynaz.org.

United Church of Christ

The congregation of the United Church of Christ waits with bated breath to find out which favorite hymns will be sung and how Jacob and Esau, the latest “Scoundrels of the Bible,” will serve as the lesson of Pastor Joan Sulser's sermon at the 10 a.m. worship service this Sunday. In place of Sunday school, which has closed for the summer, children may sit with their parents or go to the nursery from 9:45 to 11:15 a.m. All are welcome to participate in worship and to attend the fellowship time after church.

June 15 was the deadline for articles for the “Table Talk “newsletter and committee reports for the congregational annual meeting to be held after the worship service on Sunday, June 26. Please list your favorite hymns and give them to pastor Joan Sulser.

Sharon Pryor will host the Deacons' meeting at her home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16. On Tuesday, June 21, the council meeting will be held at 7 p.m.

Can you do minor building repairs, paint, run errands, feed workers, lend ladders or clean up? Please contact Mike Folsom or the church office if you can help in these ways with painting the exterior of the church between July 1 to 10 or so. 

United Methodist Church

Saturday morning the Birthday Bunch will gather at The Harvester in Spangle. The no-host breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. and will celebrate June birthdays.

Bring dad to church this Sunday morning and join us for worship at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Terry Hall will lead the service. Immediately following worship there will be “Pies for Guys” during fellowship time to honor all the fathers. Of course, gals can eat pie, too! Prior to worship this week there is an adult Sunday school class beginning at 8:30 a.m. Other Sunday school classes are in recess for the summer months.

Looking ahead, the annual church rummage sale will be during rodeo weekend on Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The United Methodist Church is located at 204 Fourth St. For information about Bible study groups or any of the church activities, call the church office at 235-4600. Summer hours for the church office are Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to noon.
